Design Proposals for the 2010 Expo Shanghai Site
Australia:
Getting close to water and full of greenery, Australian COX Company has set the masterstroke of its design - the international exposition area in Pudong. In COX¡¯s concept, World Expo should display a complete range of high technology and so in its layout includes a fully transparent, layered, multifunctional suspended bridge spanning the Huangpu River.
Japan:
The extremely interesting and novel design proposal of the Japanese RIA company is like several fish playing by the waterside. In their design, the riverside greenbelt stretches out in undulating waves and existing buildings and unique industrial structures would all be protected and utilized, melding into the new landscape of World Expo.
France:
A floral bridge linking artificial islands on both sides of Huangpu River, the proposal of the French Architecture Studio company also incorporates the lines of the Huangpu River to form an oval canal shape. Both the floral bridge and the green systems and viewing avenues running along the river banks can be kept after the close of the Expo and became classic additions to Shanghai left over by the World Expo.
Germany:
The Longteng Tower and Huyuequan are features that the German AS & P Company has custom designed for World Expo Shanghai. Naturally, the German proposal also reveals German precision and refinement and the main and auxiliary exhibition areas have clearly defined functions and are extremely easy to manage and operate.
Canada:
Moving the North American greenbelt and water loving environmental style to Shanghai is Canadian DGBK + KFS Company¡¯s concept. They also combine the neat and symmetrical style of Chinese traditional architecture to make the exhibition areas on both sides of Huangpu River into a full-feature circular island with the surging Huangpu River flowing through it.
Spain:
The design scheme of Spain¡¯s makes free use of the heavy coloring of Spanish abstract art and the three vertical and three horizontal structural functions are also highly commendable features of the design.
Italy:
Creating a huge romantic T-shape exposition area, the Italian Luca Scacchetti company design has its main axis laid out incorporating combinations of groups and Chinese traditional architecture and the light-duty transport system crossing the river is also very novel.
Shanghai, China:
Large green areas and large spaces, this masterful design comes from the workshop of Xing Tonghe of Shanghai Modern Design Group. Its design proposal, especially the large round sphere it incorporates echoes the scenery in Pudong¡¯s Lujiazui and displays Shanghai¡¯s unique character.
