In this paper the author specifically aims to illustrate some ¨®ther experiences of planning for reconstruction and transformation and reflect on the implications thereof for planning and planners. I will make use of research findings regarding experiences of planning for reconstruction and transformation that came to the fore in historiographic research undertaken on planning and development in Hammanskraal/Temba2.

In the rest of the paper I will briefly:

1.Position the paper and research in relation to planning and historiography theories;

2.Set out the research undertaken and research methodology used;

3.Illustrate differences in experiences of planning for reconstruction by playing off various social texts/stories in terms of their narration, actors, story

line and interpretations of planning for reconstruction and transformation

4.Reflect on the implications of these experiences for planning and planners.
